Idaho To Join Handful Of States That Charge Electric Car Owners

Where do you Charge an electric Car?

Car Charging / August 19, 2022

DO YOU HAVE A DEGREE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING? NO? WELL DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT,

because neither does my 10-year-old daughter, and she's the one who usually plugs our LEAF into the wall-mounted charging station in our garage.

Step 1: Pop the lid on the front of the car, to access the charging port. That's done either by pushing a button to the left of the steering wheel, or by clicking on your fob(the equivalent of the Leaf's key).

Step 2: Pull up the lid, and click open the charging portal (much easier than opening a stubborn Tupperware lid).

Step 3: Plug in the charger(listen for the click, to make sure it's all the way in).

I recently moved and have not yet re-installed the station so for the first time I'm using the LEAF's included charging cable. It is working just fine for my needs, but I'll be glad to get my L2 station back on line.

Level 2

EV Term A charger that uses a common 220 or 240 volt household current to charge your LEAF® in about 8 hours. [*]

I CHARGE MY LEAF EVERY NIGHT USING THE CHARGER THAT COMES WITH THE CAR.

I leave it plugged in my garage's standard outlet, and when I am done driving for the day, I hook it up and it's ready to go in the morning.

With the convenience of your own home charging station, you can plug-in your Nissan LEAF® overnight—just like you would with your cell phone—and you’ll be all set for the start of a new day. And with the Nissan LEAF® CARWINGS® system, you can easily find charging stations on your route, when you need to recharge on-the-go.[*]

WE INSTALLED THE NISSAN/AEROVIRONMENT UNIT WHEN WE GOT OUR CAR.

Having the charging is nice. Sometimes we drive farther or want to be able to take more than one trip per day. With the L2 charging it makes that easier.[*]

Trickle Charge

EV Term Level 1 charging, or trickle charging, is possible by plugging your EV into any regular 110 or 120 volt outlet. It’s not the fastest way to charge, but it is certainly the most available.

WELL, I PLUGGED IN TO MY FRIEND'S LEVEL I CHARGER

for his Ford Fusion Plug In. Worked fine.

I USED THE SUPPLIED

for about a year and this past June I purchased a L2 EVSE and I cannot believe how I got on with out it. It's 40amps and compatible with 3.3 or chargings[*] so when my lease ends and I have my new 2015/16 LEAF I'll be already set.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) are the protocols and various pieces of equipment whose sole purpose is to ensure the safe flow of energy between a charging station and the LEAF®.
